OK, kiddos. I'm leaving, but hopefully that doesn't mean this is goodbye forever. (I so hate that word. Nothing ever lasts, does it?) Maybe I will have more exciting things to blog while I am away. At any rate, in case something happens (I am always filled with anxiety when I am headed overseas) know that I love you all, and if I ever did anything to hurt anyone, intentionally or not, I am so, so, so sorry. So morbid! Enjoy perhaps the weirdest playlist in blogdom!
(And there was much rejoicing in the village.)
Nine Inch Nails - Hurt
Adele - To Make You Feel My Love
David Gray - The One I Love
Barry Manilow - Weekend in New England
Britney Spears - Toxic
Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Patsy Cline - I Fall to Pieces
Bruce Springsteen - Thunder Road
The Airborne Toxic Event - Wishing Well
Flogging Molly - If I Ever Leave This World Alive
The Head and the Heart - Sounds Like Hallelujah
Muse - Can't Take My Eyes Off You
Queen - I Want to Break Free
Smokey Robinson and the Miracles - The Tracks of My Tears
I love the Johnny Cash cover of the NIN song. Bruce Springsteen's Thunder Road is quite perfect, under the circumstances.
ReplyDeleteFinally, Queen. No words.
Godspeed, black light. I light a million candles for thee.
You can hide 'neath your covers and study your pain
ReplyDeleteMake crosses from your lovers, throw roses in the rain
Waste your summer praying in vain for a saviour to rise from these streets
Well now I'm no hero, that's understood
All the redemption I can offer, girl, is beneath this dirty hood
With a chance to make it good somehow
Hey what else can we do now
Except roll down the window and let the wind blow back your hair
Well the night's bustin' open, these two lanes will take us anywhere
We got one last chance to make it real
To trade in these wings on some wheels
Climb in back, heaven's waiting down on the tracks
Hope your trip goes well!
ReplyDeleteI'm also traveling this week. In fact, my last post was originally titled "Took My Chances on a Big Jet Plane," but I changed it in honor of Clarence.
And I can't disagree with any of this:
"I love the Johnny Cash cover of the NIN song. Bruce Springsteen's Thunder Road is quite perfect, under the circumstances."
Hello Maggie:
ReplyDeleteWe are bereft! No sooner have we found you, via the magical Girl Wizard, than you have deserted us for some far off shore. We trust that your absence will be short and, of course, it will as they say, make our hearts grow fonder.
Safe return!
An ecclectic playlist is the best. We have a radio station here that does and I lurves it.
ReplyDeletei agree with Suze above, I love the Johnny Cash version of that song, his history and gritty voice really made it work.
ReplyDeleteI love the Johnny Cash version as well, perhaps even more than the NIN one, but I chose the NIN for sentimental reasons....
